Our Certified Professional Midwives are experts in natural childbirth with a focus on out-of-hospital care.

During pregnancy, hour-long visits build trust, provide education, and empower you to make the choices that best serve your family.

In labor and birth, we guide and support the natural process while quietly monitoring you and your baby to ensure safety and wellbeing. We intervene only when necessary.

We are skilled in the many variations of normal, expecting the best while prepared for rare complications.

Research shows that midwifery clients experience lower rates of episiotomy, induction, infection, caesarean birth, and invasive procedures, leading to excellent outcomes for parent and baby.

Full-Course Homebirth Care

Our home birth package provides all pregnancy, labor and birth and three months of postpartum care.

You have telephone & text access to your midwives from the moment you start care.

We are on call to come to your home for your birth from 37 weeks, and midwives who you know and trust will help you birth in the comfort of your home.

Prenatal & Postpartum Complementary Care

Prefer a hospital birth but want midwifery support?

We offer co-care that includes prenatal visits and in-home postpartum care. We’ll walk through key decisions, support your emotional and physical wellbeing, and help plan your birth.

After birth, we provide five to six postpartum visits, more than most, to monitor healing, support feeding, check on baby, and ease your transition into family life.

Postpartum Care Only

In-home postpartum care complements your hospital birth.

We come to you for checkups, feeding support, and answers to your questions so you can rest and bond with your baby.

A trained midwife draws a blood sample for accurate results as early as 6 weeks. Your results arrive by email the next day.

Rachel, Michelle, and Brittany are an amazing team who took such great care of my partner and me throughout her pregnancy. Having them walk through the experience with us was so reassuring -- this was Kate's first pregnancy and we didn't know what to expect, so having regular, unhurried meetings where we could talk about everything on our minds was wonderful. I had the most incredible experience with Rock Creek Midwifery and cannot recommend them highly enough. Rachel, my midwife, was gentle, caring, and deeply respectful of my needs, while also being completely professional and grounded in her expertise. Throughout my pregnancy, Rachel led me through so much more beyond standard care - like prenatal nutrition, emotional well-being, and many “what if? have we considered…?” topics. I never felt rushed during our appointments. When labor came, it lasted much longer than expected, but Rachel guided me through every moment, keeping me focused and positive. Working closely with my doula, she created a series of labor positions that helped my sunny-side-up baby make his way earthside. Her skills, patience, and steady presence were everything I needed. After the birth, Rachel continued to show up with the same care and professionalism through at-home postpartum visits, which supported my goal of self-imposed bed rest and allowed me to stay in a peaceful bubble of recovery. If I could give 10 stars I would. I chose Rock Creek Midwifery for the birth of my second baby after a bad experience with an OBGYN. From the moment I started working with Rachel I understood that it was a completely different kind of care. Every step of the way was personalized. We would talk for an hour+ at every appointment, making sure all my questions and concerns were answered. When I was ready to go into labor I was confident I was in good hands, and could just focus on bringing my baby into the world. The Rock Creek midwifery team worked in my home respectfully and efficiently. I was so well taken care of before, during, and after my little girl came, it truly felt like maternal care fit for a goddess.

Rachel was my midwife during my two pregnancies and births. She is amazing, really caring, professional, she shares very valuable information (she even sends you papers with up-to-date research) . She provides a personalized care and respects your choices. During birth the team was really supportive, they let the experience be amazing. During postpartum I felt really cared for in everything I needed. I couldn’t recommend Rock Creek Midwifery more.

Oh we have so many good things to say about the Rock Creek Midwifery team! The care and guidance we received throughout pregnancy, labor and delivery, and the postpartum period were phenomenal. Rachel and Brittany are both incredibly kind, warm, caring, knowledgeable, and proficient. They offer guidance when asked but also want to give the information and let you make decisions for yourself. I went into labor much earlier than expected, which threw us into a bit of a tail spin, and their support was invaluable. I labored for longer than any of us imagined (baby ended up being posterior), but the Rock Creek team was in it for the long haul. They never rushed me or added any pressure; they walked the fine line of offering support and giving space; and they walked us through what needed to be done to finally move baby down. Baby was born healthy, but the placenta gave us some issues, and I lost a lot of blood. Rachel, Brittany, and their team worked calmly and quickly to make sure I was safe. Baby and I are both happy and healthy and so grateful to have had the home birth we so badly wanted (this was attempt #2 after our first with a different midwife ended in a transfer). The postpartum period was something that also stood out to me. My care didn’t end after baby was born, and the follow-up appointments were incredibly thorough and helpful, making me feel like I wasn’t just “dropped” after the baby came. Follow-up testing helped identify my needs in recovery, and I just felt so very cared for as I healed. I can’t thank the Rock Creek Midwifery team enough for all the ways they loved and served our family through it all. I was so nervous after our first birth went so differently than we’d hoped, and I’m incredibly grateful for the support we had on that journey!

We chose to have a home birth for our first baby and we loved it. We had a wonderful experience with Rockcreek midwifery. The care provided felt luxurious (compared to hospital practices). We had long appointments where not only medical checks were done but also we got to know each other and discuss important aspects of pregnancy and newborn life. Rachel was very proactive in guiding the appointments and we always had plenty of time for questions. It was reassuring to get to know the persons that were going to assist me during birth. During the birth, I was the only patient to be cared of with all the team’s attention on me. I felt supported, empowered and respected in all my choices. We were informed about biological and psychological aspects and felt reassured by our decisions. Rachel is a great midwife with a lot of knowledge and with the perfect mix of medical rigor and human warmth. They provided best- of-class postpartum care with regular home visits and lot of medical and emotional support that felt life-saving in those first days. We feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to welcome our baby in the comfort of our own home and to be supported by Rachel and Brittany. We would definitely recommend them a thousand times. Home birth midwifes are the best and this care model is by far the best option available.
